MIL-T-62110G
components of the vehicle and to allow recovery of the fluid in a container. The reservoir shall have a corrosion-resistant metal plate indicating the type of hydraulic fluid required and the maximum fluid level in the reservoir with the derrick in travel position and with the hydraulic lines and components full of fluid. A sight level or dip stick gage shall be furnished to indicate the level of the fluid. The tank shall be clean.
3.12.5 Hydraulic fluid. Unless otherwise specified, hydraulic fluid conforming to the manufacturer's standard or recommended requirements shall be provided in the hydraulic system. When specified (see 6.2), hydraulic fluid conforming to MIL-H-83282 shall be provided in the hydraulic system.
3.12.6 Oil filter and strainers. A full flow type 10-micron discharge oil filter in the return line to the reservoir shall be provided. A 100-mesh suction line strainer in the hydraulic reservoir shall be provided. The filter and the suction strainer shall be easily accessible for periodic cleaning or for replacement of the filter cartridge. The filter and the strainer shall have sufficient capacity to allow the maximum rated pump discharge.
* 3.12.7 Hydraulic fluid temperature. The hydraulic fluid temperature shall be maintained within safe limits to prevent seal and valve damage and to prevent approach to flash-point of the fluid during all operating conditions of the vehicle, including use of the derrick assembly for
long periods of time. The hydraulic fluid temperature shall not exceed a maximum of 180°F in a maximum ambient temperature of 125°F. Provisions shall be made to prevent malfunction or unactuated operation of the hydraulic control system due to changes in fluid temperature.
3.13 Ground hydraulic tool outlet. A hydraulic tool outlet shall be provided in a curbside cabinet or in a protected position on the rear or under the platform. When specified (see 6.2), hydraulic tool outlets shall be provided on the curbside and streetside of the vehicle. The discharge port(s) and return port(s) shall be provided with corrosion-resistant caps, secured with corrosion-resistant chains to protect the threads and the valve from contamination. Flow divider control valves shall use the hydraulic fluid from the hydraulic system of the vehicle. Unless otherwise specified herein, one tool circuit with quick disconnect, dripless couplers shall be furnished for attaching the pressure and return hose lines for the motor driven hydraulic tools.
The oil flow for the tools shall be regulated by control valve(s) to meet the flow requirements of the hydraulic tools. The maximum pressure shall be 1,700 pounds per square inch (psi) to
1,800 psi and the back pressure in the return line shall not exceed 150 psi.
