at working height. The leveling system component shall be provided with maximum protection based on design features and safety. The system shall be insulated as specified (see 3.7.2). The leveling system shall operate without breakage in all extended positions that the derrick is capable of attaining.
3.7.3.4 Safety belt(s). A positive-lock type, lineman safety belt with quick-release features shall be provided for each basket. Belt(s) shall have a design strength of 2,000 pounds. The safety belt(s) shall be designed and positioned to allow freedom of movement of the workman in the basket(s). Means shall be provided to attach safety belt fasteners to the end of the extension or basket bracket and to prevent the fastener attachment from being pulled through the plastic wall, in the event of leveling system failure. Fasteners and attachments shall be corrosion-resistant.
3.7.3.5 Basket cover(s). A waterproof basket cover and a means of retaining the cover on the basket while in storage or stowage-in-transit position shall be provided for each basket. Provisions shall be made to store the cover(s) in a compartment of the utility body.
3.7.3.6 Tool tray(s). A fiberglass or polyethylene tool tray, one for each person of basket capacity, shall be provided to fit over the edge of the basket(s). Provisions shall be made to secure and stow the tool tray(s) in a compartment of the utility body.
3.8 Hydraulic digger. A reversible hydraulically driven post-hole digger shall be provided. The motor driven digger shall be capable of boring holes up to 12 feet in depth and up to 24 inches in diameter for size 55, and up to 30 inches in diameter for size 70. The hydraulically operated motor of the digger shall be capable of developing, at the output shaft, not less than 7,000 foot-pounds of torque at a shaft speed of 34 revolutions per minute (rpm). For high speed spin-off of dirt, the digger shall rotate at not less than 75 rpm. The digger shall be equipped with a boring head similar or equal to the Pengo boring heads. Hydraulic flow control valves shall be furnished to prevent overspeeding the digger motor.
3.8.1 Augers. When specified (see 6.2), size 55 vehicle shall be furnished with 12-inch,
18-inch, and 24-inch augers. When specified (see 6.2), size 70 vehicle shall be furnished with
12-inch, 18-inch, 24-inch, and 30-inch augers. The augers shall suit the boring head specified
in 3.8. Each auger shall be furnished with a pilot bit for center drilling the hole and the required
number of auger teeth. Auger teeth shall be capable of boring holes in swamp, loose sand, hard terrain, and rocky soil. Stowage for shipping of the augers shall be provided on the vehicle.
3.8.2 Spare auger teeth. One complete set of spare auger teeth shall be furnished for each 12-inch, 18-inch, 24-inch, and 30-inch auger furnished.
