the left (street) side if practicable. Interior domelighting shall be provided. The body length and cab-axle dimensions specified in tables VI and VII shall be increased by not less than 39 inches.
3.5.5 Body mounting. A subframe shall be provided. The derrick, outriggers and subframe shall be one integral welded assembly. The subframe shall conform to (a) or (b) below:
(a) The cabinet loadspace floor mounting shall conform to 3.5.5.2 through 3.5.5.2.3.
The subframe length shall be at least sufficient to distribute the load evenly on the
chassis frame rails for type I, size 55; shall extend from the rear of the chassis frame to at least forward of the rear axle(s) for type II, size 55; and shall be the full length of the chassis frame for types I, II, and III, sizes 55 and 70
(b) The cabinet loadspace floor mounting shall conform to 3.5.5.3 and the subframe
shall be the full length of the chassis frame.
3.5.5.1 No welding of chassis frame. No part of the body (cabinets, floor, derrick, turret, outriggers, or subframe) shall be welded to the chassis frame.
3.5.5.2 Flexible mounting for cabinet-floor assembly. The cabinets and the loadspace floor shall be an integral assembly, secured independently of the derrick and the outriggers to the chassis frame or derrick subframe with U-bolts, twin studs or brackets and shall include a wood breaker strip. All but the rearmost cabinet-floor assembly mountings shall be spring loaded to provide for movement of the cabinet-floor assembly independent of the subframe, chassis frame, derrick, turret and outriggers.
3.5.5.2.1 U-bolts or twin studs. When U-bolts or twin studs are used for mounting the cabinet-floor assembly, there shall be not less than four U-bolts or twin studs per side having a
0.5625 inch minimum body diameter with a 0.6250 inch minimum thread diameter. Tie-plates shall be at least 0.50 inch thick. The vehicle chassis frame and the subframe shall be braced,
using wood blocks, at each mounting point unless the mounting point is located at a full depth crossmember. Blocks shall incorporate a keeper strap or groove for the mounting bolt and shall
be of a width to assure retention. Two tieback straps shall be provided, one bolted to each side of the rear, to maintain cabinet-floor assembly alinement on the chassis frame rails or subframe.
3.5.5.2.2 Brackets. When brackets are used, they shall be bolted to the web of the subframe or of the chassis frame rails. The body mounting brackets shall provide means for drawing down the body on the subframe or chassis rails and provisions shall be made to prevent lateral shifting of the breaker strips.
