3.6.5.1.1 Basket liner(s). Except as otherwise specified (see 3.6.5.2), a nonconductive
basket liner shall be provided for each basket furnished. The liner shall cover the basket interior. The liner shall be easily removable from the basket(s) for cleaning and for testing the dielectric capacity. The floor of the liner shall be provided with a removable, nonconductive scuff mat.
3.6.5.1.2 Basket cover(s). Waterproof basket cover(s) and means to retain cover(s) on the basket(s) while in stowage, or stowage-in-transit position, shall be provided on all basket(s) and also may enclose the controls; otherwise cover(s) shall be provided to enclose all control mechanisms completely. Provisions shall be made to store the cover(s) in a compartment of the body.
3.6.5.2 Guardrail type basket. When specified (see 6.2), a non-insulated guardrail type basket shall be furnished. The basket shall have two guardrails and a kickrail provided around the perimeter of the basket. The kickrail shall be not less than 13 mm (5 inches) in height. The lower and upper guardrails shall be not less than 510 mm (20 inches) and 1070 mm (42 inches) respectively from the floor of the basket. The flooring shall be of the open grating type. Interior dimensions shall be not less than 1070 mm (42 inches) in depth, 1020 mm (40 inches) in width and 760 mm (30 inches) front to back. A gate with a positive safety latch to hold the gateway closed shall be provided. Protruding edges shall be padded with a resilient replaceable bumper. The guardrails shall be constructed of aluminum.
3.6.5.3 Flooring. Basket(s) shall have a reinforced floor. No point in the flooring shall deflect more than 6.4 mm (0.25 inch) nor be permanently deformed when subjected to a vertical load of 166 kg (300 pounds) covering an area of 160 cm2 (25 square inches).
3.6.5.4 Safety belt(s). Lineman type safety belt(s) with lifeline(s) and positive lock type, quick release feature(s) shall be furnished for each personnel space in each basket. Each belt shall be capable of withstanding a static load of 1815 kg (4,000 pounds) without damage or permanent deformation and shall conform to the Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHA), 29 CFR. The safety belt(s) shall be designed and positioned to allow freedom of movement of the workman in the basket(s). Means shall be provided to attach fasteners to the end of the boom or basket(s) bracket and to prevent fastener attachment being pulled through the fiberglass wall in the event of leveling system failure. All fasteners and attachments shall be corrosion-resistant.
