equipment without causing the vehicle to become unstable. The vehicle shall be deemed
unstable with 1-1/2 times the specified load when anyone of the vehicle wheels or outriggers lifts
off the ground, ANSI A92.2 not withstanding. The vehicle shall also be deemed unstable if, with twice the specified load (see 3.6.5), the inner tire of either dual rear wheel lifts off the ground. The stability tests shall not cause any permanent deformation beyond the elastic limit of any component of the vehicle.
* 3.3.3.1 Stability on slopes. With one and one third times the specified load (see 3.6.5) placed in or suspended from the basket(s), with the vehicle otherwise unloaded, with the vehicle on a 5 degree slope, with the outriggers extended, without the vehicle being leveled,
(ANSI A92.2 not withstanding) facing upward, then downward, then at right angles to the
5 degree slope, the articulated booms shall be capable of placing and holding the loaded aerial
basket(s) in any attainable position of the equipment without causing the vehicle to become unstable. The vehicle shall be deemed unstable with one and one third times the specified load when anyone of the vehicle's tires or outriggers lifts off the ground, ANSI A92.2 not withstanding.
3.3.4 Wind resistance. With the specified load (see 3.6.5) in the basket(s), with the vehicle otherwise unloaded, and in any extended position, the vehicle shall be capable of withstanding a wind load of 335 N/m2 (7 pounds per square foot) without upsetting, overturning, or permanent deformation of any component. The maximum area exposure for wind load shall be calculated with the body, booms and basket(s) in the most critical position that would induce tipping. The resisting moment shall be greater than the wind load when the load is applied on the surface of the body, boom and basket(s). The contractor shall perform calculations, or shall have available a certified test report for the vehicle or a vehicle of the same make, type, class, size and model.
3.3.5 Height. The booms shall be capable of raising the aerial basket(s) with rated load (see 3.6.5), measured from ground level to the aerial basket(s) floor, to the minimum height for the size of vehicle specified in table III.
* 3.3.6 Horizontal reach. With the lower boom in its most horizontal position for type II, and its vertical or most nearly vertical position for type I, the boom assembly with the upper boom horizontal shall provide a minimum horizontal reach conforming to table IX, as specified for the type and size of the vehicle, measured from the front edge of the aerial basket(s) to the axis of
the turntable. When side hung basket(s) are furnished on type I, the horizontal reach specified in table IX may be reduced not more than 535 mm (1-3/4 feet). The booms shall be capable of lowering the loaded aerial platform to within 1220 mm (4 feet) of the ground, measured from the ground to the side of the basket nearest the ground, when the basket has been tilted over as to remove a disabled operator.
