* 3.6.4.7 Hydraulic jib and winch. A non-conductive hydraulic tilting jib and a hydraulic winch shall be furnished. The jib shall hydraulically tilt from 0 degrees or a negative angle to the axis of the boom to 45 degrees above. The jib shall manually extend from not more than
1070 mm (42 inches) to not less than 1520 mm (60 inches), measured from the hinge point of the
jib to the load line. Quick disconnect tool outlets shall be mounted at the boom tip. The jib shall be of fiberglass. The winch shall conform to SAE J706, except an automatic safety brake is not required if the winch has a self-locking worm gear drive, capable of continuously holding and safely lowering a load equal to not less than 1.2 times rated winch capacity. The winch shall be wound with not less than 13 mm (0.5 inch) diameter insulated rope, consisting of braided polyester fibers with a braided nylon cover. The rope shall be of a length to reach the ground at maximum boom elevation height. The rope shall be provided with a spliced eye and quick hook. The capacity of the entire system shall be not less than 680 kg (1,500 pounds). Complete
controls shall be provided within easy reach of the operator in the basket.
* 3.6.4.8 Lifting attachment for conductors. When specified (see 6.2), a lifting attachment to raise conductors off insulators shall be furnished. The attachment shall be capable of lifting at least three conductors simultaneously by elevating the upper boom. The attachment shall be secured to a hydraulic jib furnished in accordance with 3.6.4.7. The attachment shall be provided with a mast support and a quadrant. The mast shall be of fiberglass and shall meet the
requirements of 3.6.3. An insulated auxiliary cross arm, a pivoting cross arm clamp, a brace, and
three wire holders shall be provided.
3.6.5 Aerial basket(s). The total load capacity of the aerial basket(s) shall be not less than
227 kg (500 pounds) for two-man capacity and 136 kg (300 pounds) for one-man capacity.
Strength of material of the basket(s) shall be as specified in 3.6.
* 3.6.5.1 Fiberglass basket(s). A one-man basket shall be furnished for sizes 30 and 35, type I and type II. Unless otherwise specified (see 3.6.5.2), a single, two-man fiberglass basket shall be furnished on type I vehicles, size 35 and larger. Two individual one-man baskets shall be furnished for all type II vehicles. The basket(s) shall be enclosed on four sides and the bottom. The basket(s) shall have a molded-in or bonded-on step, protruding to the outside, located to aid entrance and exit of the operator. The basket minimum interior dimensions shall be as specified in table XIV. Minimum interior dimensions shall be measured at the bottom of the basket(s) just above the bottom radii. Non-rectangular baskets may be furnished provided the total usable
floor area is equivalent to that of a rectangular basket with the minimum dimensions specified in table XIV.
