mounting bolt and shall be of a width to assure retention. Two tieback straps shall be provided, one bolted to each aide of the rear, to maintain cabinet-floor assembly alinement on the chassis frame rails or subframe.

3.5.2.2.2 Brackets. When brackets are used, they shall be bolted to the web of the subframe or to the chassis frame rails. The body mounting brackets shall provide means for drawing down the body on the subframe or chassis rails and provisions shall be made to prevent lateral shifting of the breaker strips. When additional holes are required to secure the mounting brackets to the chassis frame rails, they shall be located within the area of the rail which is designated as being safe for drilling in accordance with the chassis manufacturer's body builders layouts.

Attachments shall not interfere with nor obstruct existing chassis components.

3.5.2.2.3 Breaker strips. A hardwood or dense southern yellow pine breaker strip not less than 29 mm (1-1/16 inches) in finished thickness shall be installed between the longitudinal sills of the cabinet-floor assembly and the subframe. Breaker strips shall have a taper of 25 mm

(1 inch) in 460 mm (18 inches) at the forward end.

* 3.5.2.3 Rigid mounting for cabinet-floor assembly. The cabinets shall be bolted and the loadspace floor shall be bolted or welded to the full length subframe. The full length subframe and the chassis frame shall be tied together in such a manner as to act as a single member resisting bending and distortion of the cabinets. The section modulus of the full length subframe and the chassis frame combined shall be not less than 1150 cubic centimeters (70 inches cubed)

per frame rail. A wood breaker strip conforming to 3.5.2.2.3 shall be provided when the cabinets and the loadspace floor are an integral assembly. When the cabinets are mounted independently of the loadspace floor, wood or metal breaker strips shall be provided when needed to provide relief at rivet heads, bolt heads, or other subframe irregularities.

3.5.3 Cabinet. Cabinet backs, partitions and shelves shall be constructed of not less than

20 gage (0.919 mm) (0.0359 inch) high tensile steel or 18 gage (1.214 mm) (0.0478 inch) carbon steel, reinforced. Cabinet doors shall be double panel construction of not less than 22 gage (0.759 mm) (0.0299 inch) steel. Doors shall be weatherproof and constructed to maintain fit and alinement in service. Doors shall have continuous rod or hem type heavy duty hinges, with stainless steel hinge pins and stainless steel, nylon or bronze insert sockets. Latches with recessed handles shall be furnished for all doors. Cylinder type locks, keyed alike, shall be installed in each door. Moving parts of latches and locks shall be constructed of, or plated with corrosion-resistant material. Cabinet doors over 1168 mm (46 inches) in length or height shall have pillar bolts or two latches. Dropdown doors shall have corrosion-resistant stay chains and shall be reinforced for use as shelves capable of supporting a live load of not less than 120 kg/m2
