The vehicle shall be diesel or gasoline engine driven, four-wheel, two rear wheel drive, having minimum gross vehicle weight GVW of 24,000 pounds and shall be equipped with a tilt cab, a 30 kilowatt kW auxiliary generator and a 4 kW auxiliary generator. The body shall be fully air conditioned and heated. Vehicles procured under this specification are commercial items which shall be warranted by the manufacturer as specified in procurement documents.

6.2  Ordering data.  Procurement documents should specify the following:

(a)   Title, number, and date of this specification.

(b)   Identification of appropriate service for painting and marking (see 3.1.1.1). (c)   Special exterior markings, if required (see 3.1.1.2).

(d)   Rustproofing, if required (see 3.1.1.3).

(e)   Tropical rustproofing, if required (see 3.1.1.3).

(f)    A gasoline engine, if required (3.4.1.2). (g)   Disc type wheels, if required (see 3.4.10). (h)   Bias ply tires, if required (see 3.4.10.1).

(i)    If a spare tire carrier is not required (see 3.4.10.3).

(j)    A spare wheel, if required (see 3.4.10.4).

(k)   A spare tire assembly, if required (see 3.4.10.5).

(l)    A desiccant type air dryer, if required (see 3.4.11.1(k)).

(m)  Individual driver and passenger seats, if required (see 3.4.12).

(n)   Tool, if required (see 3.4.16.1).

(o)   Type of floor covering, if different (see 3.5.5).

(p)   Laboratory equipment and furnishings, if different (see 3.5.10.4). (q)   Awnings, if required (see 3.5.15).

6.3  Performance prediction.  Completed copies of SAE Truck Ability Prediction procedure form, and computation for maximum geared speed and low speed requirements for vehicle furnished under contract, should be submitted as specified in the contract.  Unless other conditions are cited in the contract, computations should be made for normal atmospheric pressure, normal ambient air temperature, and in still, dry air.  The factors to be used in predicting vehicle ability (see 3.3) are established as follows for the corresponding SAE J688
