3.5.12 Fire extinguisher. A 5-pound chemical type fire extinguisher conforming to Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulation 393.95(a) shall be mounted in a convenient location in the vehicle body. The fire extinguisher shall have an Underwriters' Laboratory rating of 10B:C or more, shall include a metal safety pin and wire and shall conform to type I or type II, class 2, size 5 of O-E-915. The fire extinguisher shall permit visual determination of condition of charge.
3.5.13 Emergency reflective triangles. Three emergency reflective triangles conforming to Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulation 393.95(f)(2)(i) shall be furnished and properly stowed.
3.5.14 Stabilizing jacks. Two removable stabilizing jacks shall be mounted under the front bumper. Two adjustable, heavy duty, geared, 30 inch total travel jacks with eight turns to the inch travel shall be mounted behind the rear wheels. Each jack shall be rated at
12,000 pounds load capacity and shall be equipped with removable, adjustable height, 8-inch
square sand plate foot section so that cranking can be limited to 2 to 3 inches. The jacks shall be capable of leveling the vehicle and shall provide adequate stability with relation to the ground while the vehicle is under normal stationary service.
3.5.14.1 Sight levels. Sight levels shall be provided at the body rear and at the curbside to aid in leveling the unit.
3.5.15 Awnings. When specified (see 6.2), two spring-loaded, roll-up awnings with support rods shall be provided and installed on the curbside of the vehicle. Brackets shall be installed on the body side to hold awning support rods when the awnings are in extended position. Awnings shall extend not less than 8 feet outward. Each awning shall be not less than
12 feet wide. Awnings shall be located to cover the front door, the rear door, and the area
between the two doors.
3.6 Servicing and adjusting. Prior to acceptance of the vehicle by the Government, the contractor shall service and adjust the vehicle for operational use including at least the following: alinement of lights; adjustment of chassis engine, heating and air conditioning systems, and
brake system; filling and charging of all batteries; alinement of front wheels; inflation of all tires;
complete lubrication of chassis, engines and running gear with grades of lubricants recommended for the ambient air temperature at the delivery point; servicing of engine cooling systems with ethylene glycol type antifreeze and water in equal parts by volume; and servicing of windshield washer reservoir with water and appropriate additives.
