be surfaced with Armstrong, or equal, heavy duty, cushioned vinyl linoleum. The unit shall be constructed without wheelhousings to provide a straight-through floor. Wood parts, including plywood, shall be treated as specified in 3.1.1.6. Additional crossmembers shall be provided, if required, to support floor loads in critical stress areas.
3.5.6 Electrical system. The electrical system shall be in accordance with the National
Electric Code (NEC), NFPA No. 70. The vehicle shall be equipped with a 30-kilowatt (kW),
120/240-volt, single phase, 60-hertz (Hz), 4-wire main generator and a 4 kW, 120/240-volt, single phase, 60-Hz, 4-wire auxiliary generator wired through appropriate circuit breaker(s) to the vehicle electrical system and to an external electrical receptacle to receive local power via lead-in cable. Wiring shall be provided for all 120/240-volt equipment. Circuit breaker box(es) of adequate capacity shall be installed at appropriate location(s) within the vehicle. An additional 120-volt power inlet shall be provided and wired as specified herein.
3.5.6.1 Wiring. All wiring shall be NEC standard plastic-jacketed, nonmetallic sheathed cable with ground. Wiring shall be concealed yet easily accessible for repairs. Wiring and related devices shall be installed in a workmanlike manner, mechanically and electrically secure. Devices, lamps and other equipment requiring periodic service shall be readily accessible and serviceable. Wiring shall be protected by grommets when passing through structural members. Wiring shall include the following:
(a) Individual 120-volt circuits provided for utility equipment lights, receptacles.
(b) 240-volt circuits for air conditioning, blood centrifuge units and electrical heating
units.
(c) Duplex 120-volt receptacles shall be provided in convenient locations within the
body interior.
3.5.6.2 Lighting. Fluorescent lights in standard 1, 2 or 4-tube fixtures shall be surface- mounted on the interior body ceiling within plastic diffuser panels or beneath cabinets above work counters to give a minimum light density of 75 foot candles at working distances in all parts of the room. Light fixtures shall be installed so that working personnel will not cast a shadow on their work. Diffusers shall be equipped with devices to prevent falling in transit. In order to limit light density, each bank of ceiling lights shall be wired in series so that 50 percent of the ceiling lights can be controlled by each of two wall switches. Twelve-volt dome lights shall be provided at each entrance/exit door and within each exterior body compartment.
