MIL-V-62347(AT)
3.6.12.9.2.4 Hand controller indicator. A missile trigger actuated indication shall be provided to the operator. It shall indicate a closed trigger circuit, when the trigger circuit is closed and the TOW Missile Guidance Set (MGS) is installed and sufficiently powered.
3.6.12.9.3 Nightsight remote controls. Remote nightsight controls shall be provided to adjust nightsight image brightness, contrast, focus and field of view (FOV) selection. These controls shall be smooth and continuous in operation, excluding the FOV control which is two position.
3.6.12.9.4 Other controls and indicators. Controls and indicators shall also be provided to control or indicate:
a. Accumulator nitrogen pressure.
b. Weapon station roll angle (-10 to +10 degrees) with illumination.
c. Weapon station azimuth relative to the vehicle with illumination.
d. Ready to load condition. Indicator shall be illuminated and visible to personnel
behind the gunner, and shall provide brightness control/lamp test features. e. Vehicle lateral cant angle (-20 to +20 degrees) with illumination.
f. An audible alarm which sounds when the system is in the fire interrupt condition, and either remote arming device is in the armed state.
g. Cumulative time that power has been applied to the weapon station, primary or emergency.
3.6.13 Optics. The optics system shall consist of; weapon station Image Transfer Assembly (ITA) and vision blocks, squad leader's periscope (SLP), and vehicle hull periscopes/vision blocks.
3.6.13.1 Image Transfer Assembly (ITA). The ITA is a unity (1X) periscope, which serves as an optical relay between the gunner and the TOW daysight/tracker and nightsight, and also provides a wide field acquisition sight. The ITA shall provide features required to accommodate these three selectable optical input channels. It shall provide articulation, when the weapon station is positioned to the erect, stow and load positions of the weapon station launcher.
3.6.13.1.1 Sight selection. The ITA shall provide for gunner selection of an image at the gunner eyepiece from:
a. The acquisition sight, 2.8X magnification with 25 degree field of view. b. The TOW daysight, 13X magnification with 5.5 degree field of view.
c. The TOW nightsight, 4X and 12X magnification with attending field of view either
3.4 X 6.8 degrees or 1.1 X 2.2 degrees.
