3.8 Keys. All locks on the vehicle, except for the spare wheel assembly, and all vehicles on the contract shall have identical keys. Locks are to be keyed alike. Two keys for each vehicle shall be furnished.
3.9 Workmanship. Defective components or parts and assemblies which have been repaired or modified to overcome deficiencies shall not be furnished. Welded, bolted, and riveted construction utilized shall be in accordance with the highest standards of the industry.
4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS
4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in
the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services
conform to prescribed requirements.
4.2 Initial production test vehicle road test and examination. The initial production test vehicle will be examined and road tested GCWR by the contractor to assure that the vehicle operated in accordance with the contract requirements. The test vehicle will be operated a minimum of three (3) continuous hours during which it will be subjected to fifteen (15) cycles of pick-up, coupling, delivery of not less than one half (1/2) mile maneuver and park in a limited parking area, uncoupling and dropoff.
4.2.1 Vehicle weight. Initial production test vehicle shall be weighed to determine curb weight and distribution of curb weight on front and rear axle. The imposed loading on front and rear axle will be computed using the curb weight, the operator weight at 200 pounds, and the payload to provide the specified GVWR. Calculated imposed loads on front and rear axle will
be used to evaluate the capability of the suspension, axles and tires furnished to meet
performance requirements.
4.2.2 Initial production test vehicle road test. One initial production test vehicle will be examined and road tested in accordance with 4.2. Upon successful completion of road test as specified in 4.2, this vehicle will be subjected to the following initial production test examinations and conditions.
