MIL-T-62255 Truck Tractor, Yard Type, 4 X 2, Xm878This specification covers diesel engine driven, four-wheel, two rear wheel drive truck-tractor, yard type, with a one man half cab, having a minimum gross vehicle weight rating GVWR of 43,500 pounds and a gross combination weight rating GCWR of 100,000 pounds. Vehicles under this specification shall be procured only from a manufacturer who meets the standard commercial and commercially proven component criteria. Vehicles shall be warranted by the manufacturer as specified in the procurement documents.

3.2.5 Curb weight. Curb weight of the vehicle shall include the weight of the chassis and cab, with all attachments, accessories and equipment; fifth wheel; full complement of fuel lubricants and coolant.

3.2.6 Gross vehicle weight rating. Gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) shall consist of the curb weight, operator (weight computed at 200 pounds), and a 28,000 pound load imposed on the fifth wheel. The load imposed on the fifth wheel shall be so distributed that the vehicle GVWR rating and the design capacities of the chassis and components are not exceeded.

3.2.7 Gross combination weight rating. Gross combination weight rating (GCWR) shall consist of the curb weight, operator (weight computed at 200 pounds), and weight of a semitrailer loaded to provide not more than 100,000 pound GCWR.

3.2.8 Ratings. Vehicle ratings shall be manufacturer's published ratings for Class I road as defined in Table 9 of SAE J688. Component and vehicular ratings shall not be raised to meet the requirements of this specification. When published ratings are not available, verification of ratings shall be submitted. Minimum GVWR and GCWR shall conform to 3.2.6 and 3.2.7.

3.2.9 Dimensions. Dimensions for the vehicle in the unladen position shall not be more than that specified in Table II.
