3.5.4 Calibration conversion package. Body interior shelving, cabinetry and bench seat shall be capable of being removed and installed into another similar panel truck without deformation of the cabinetry framing for the shelves, or the bench seat (see figures 2, 3, 4 and 5). All cabinets and framing shall be secured from the inside of the cargo area. The payloads for the framing for the shelving, and shelves that are located rearward of the bench seat; meter plug-in cabinet, spare parts cabinet and the two containers shall be marked as follows:
(a) Shelving rearward of the bench seat, each shelf mark: "136 kg (300 pounds) capacity" in a visible location
(b) Meter plug-in cabinet on the exterior of one door, mark: "91 kg (200 pounds) capacity
(c) Spare parts cabinet on the exterior of one door, mark: "91 kg (200 pound) capacity
(d) Container (2) @ 115 kg (250 pounds) each.
The above marked payload capacities are payloads the user will place on the shelves rearward of the bench seat, in the cabinets and the weight of the two containers placed between the cabinets on the floor. The shelves and cabinets shall have a design payload capacity as specified in their respective paragraphs, to provide structural integrity.
3.5.4.1 Calibration equipment shelf framing. A calibration equipment shelf framing with two shelves shall be provided behind the bench seat (see figures 2, 3 and 4), and shall have open front and top. The shelves shall be mounted facing the rear of the vehicle cargo area. Frame shall have a minimum dimension of 810 mm (32 inches) plus 25 mm (1 inch), minus 0 mm
(0 inches) in height and 635 mm (25 inches) in depth. The width shall be the maximum
attainable between the van walls and depending upon location and dimensions of the wheelwells. Shelving frame shall be constructed of steel or aluminum of adequate gage and shall be
reinforced to support the maximum design load of 272 kg (600 pounds). The area above the top of the framing at the back shall have 13 mm (0.50 inch) flattened expanded metal installed from
the top of the framing to the ceiling and close off all cavities between the framing, vehicle walls, and the ceiling. The area below the expanded metal at the back, shall have a solid full width and
height metal panel to enclose the back of the two shelves (see 3.5.4.1.1). The expanded metal edge that is adjacent to the metal panel shall have an edge molding. The expanded metal and the
metal panel shall be so fitted as to enclose all cavities between the vehicle floor, side walls and ceiling. All installation shall be accomplished from the cargo area to prevent items being
removed from the crew area by personnel and unauthorized personnel.
3.5.4.1.1 Shelving unit. The shelving unit shall consist of two solid upright end panels,
810 mm (32 inches) in height, with a solid back and a 25 mm (1 inch) flange to secure the
upright panels to the floor of the cargo area on the front, and forward of the vehicle wheelwells. Two shelves shall 91 kg be suspended between the two solid upright end panels and sufficient
