when applicable, 3.5.12. When the tests are completed, the entire unit shall be inspected for evidence of cracks or deformation. With the boom in the lift-tow position, the hooks shall be attached to a weight or fixture so that when the winch is engaged the front of the wrecker will lift off the ground. Following this test the wrecker and chassis shall be examined for evidence of cracks or distortion.
4.3.4 Winch capacity verification. The contractor shall certify test results showing compliance with the winch capacity specified in table X or table XIII, with the safety factor specified in 3.5.5 or 3.6.6.
4.3.5 Wrecker lift-tow load capacity verification. The contractor shall perform calculations verifying conformance to the lift-tow load in accordance with 3.5.11 or 3.6.11. The front axle curb weight (load imposed at the ground by the front axle of the vehicle) that is used in the calculations shall be verified by weighing in the presence of the Government representatives.
* 4.3.6 Rear axle weight. The wrecker, loaded to its most severe lift-tow load configuration in accordance with tables X, XII or XIII, as applicable, shall have the load on the rear axles weighed. The weight measured shall not exceed the rear GAWR.
4.3.7 Production sample. Upon acceptance of the first production vehicle, it shall remain at the manufacturing facility as a production sample, and shall be the last vehicle shipped on the contract. The contractor shall maintain the vehicle in an as new condition for the duration of the contract.
4.3.8 Failure. Failure of the first production vehicle to meet requirements of the contract shall be cause for the Government to refuse acceptance of all vehicles under contract until corrective action has been taken.
4.4 Inspection of production vehicles. The contractor's inspection system shall as a minimum assure that the vehicle conforms to the physical and dimensional requirements and is capable of meeting performance requirements contained herein. For each vehicle under contract, the contractor shall make available to the Government, at the point of final acceptance, records acceptable to the Government indicating that the servicing and adjusting required by 3.4.28 have been accomplished.
4.5 Acceptance inspection. Each completed production vehicle shall be operated for a distance of not less than 8 km (5 miles) at speeds up to and including 80 km/h (50 mph). During the acceptance test the vehicle shall be observed for handling characteristics consistent with safe operating conditions. Following the 8 km (5 mile) road test the boom on type I shall be raised to at least 45 degrees, lowered, fully extended and retracted to the normal travel position without
